Uros Floating Islands
The man-made Uros Floating Islands – weird to walk over and even stranger to live on – have been inhabited since their construction centuries ago by Uros Indians. Life on the islands is certainly never easy: the undersides of the structures rot so rapidly that fresh matting has to be added constantly, and during the rainy season it’s not unusual for the islands to shift about the surface of Lake Titicaca.
