The Monastery
Ever since its discovery in 1812 Petra has fired imaginations, its grandeur and dramatic setting pushing it into the realms of legend. In its Nabatean golden age, Petra was an extravagantly wealthy city, home to tens of thousands of people, and although many of Petra’s grand buildings are now excavation sites, there’s still plenty here to take your breath away – not least the awe-inspiring Monastery.
