Practicalities

All buses and dolmuşes drop you at the fairly central otogar. There’s a single surviving pansiyon 2km out of town on the way to ancient Myra – the Kent (t 0242/871 2042; €20–28 (41–60TL)) – though this is more of use to trekkers on the Lycian Way; central hotels are not recommendable. Among a half-dozen restaurants downtown clustered on Müze Caddesi, the unlicensed İpek, on the same side as the church, is popular with locals for its good, inexpensive pide, grills and hazır yemek.
