Practicalities

The otogar (regular services from Eğirdir, Konya, Antalya and elsewhere) is 2km out of town, but a regular service bus links it with the centre, dropping you near the weir-bridge.

Beyşehir’s only decent central hotel is the Beyaz Park (t 0332/512 4535, w www.beyazpark.net; €20–28 (41–60TL)), an imposing stone building overlooking the weir at Atatürk Cad 1. Built in the early twentieth century, it has pleasantly furnished rooms; for period atmosphere and coolness, ask for the old building (as opposed to the modern extension), preferably overlooking the river as the roadside is noisy.

The best restaurant in town is at the Beyaz Park, with reasonable food (including lake fish) and drinks, served in the riverside garden, weather permitting. Opposite the Beyaz Park is a carpet and antique dealer’s called Ceylanlar Sarraf, which sells a good selection of kilims, copperware, Ottoman handguns and old jewellery.
