Arrival and information

The otogar is right in the centre of town, from where it’s possible to get dolmuşes and Belediye buses to nearby villages such as Mustafapaşa, Göreme and Avanos, as well as more distant cities. The tourist office, PTT, museum, shops and banks are all close by. The best hotels are, at most, a cheap taxi ride away.

Kayseri Caddesi, the street leading downhill to the tourist office and museum, is also the main shopping street. The tourist office (daily: May–Sept 8am–6pm; Oct–April 8am–5pm; t 0384/341 4059) is at Kayseri Cad 37, located next to the museum in a park complete with tea garden, where you can peruse their maps and hotel price list. They also have a home-made hiking map; ask for it.
