Flights to Budapest arrive at Ferenc Liszt (formerly Ferihegy) airport, 20km from the centre; bus and metro connect into Budapest, but most convenient is the airport bus that will take you straight to your accommodation. Several budget airlines now fly to Balaton airport – the closest town is Keszthely, with a regular bus service to and from Balaton Airport.
Most international trains arrive at Keleti pu in Budapest, although Nyugati pu and Déli pu also handle international arrivals (see “Arrivals” in the Budapest section). Global or One Country InterRail passes are valid on all trains. International buses are generally operated by Eurolines, or Volánbusz, its Hungarian associate, with their two main terminals in Budapest.
