Beyond Commercial Road, Chapel Street focuses on streetsmart fashion, becoming progressively more downmarket as it heads south. Landmarks include Prahran Market, round the corner on Commercial Road, an excellent, though expensive, food emporium (fish, meat, fruit, vegetables and delicatessen) plus cafés and a few clothes shops. Chapel Street Bazaar, on the western side of Chapel Street, has good secondhand clothes, Art Deco jewellery, furniture and bric-a-brac. Just opposite, tucked away in Little Chapel Street, a lane off Chapel Street, Chapel off Chapel, provides a venue for an eclectic mix of theatre performances, music and art exhibitions. Heading a further 100m south along Chapel Street brings you to Greville Street, in the heart of Prahran, which has taken over from Chapel Street as the corridor of cutting-edge cool, with retro and designer boutiques, music outlets, bookshops, and groovy bars and restaurants. Things really hot up over the weekend, and every Sunday the small Greville Street Market has arts, crafts and secondhand clothes and jewellery on the corner of Gratton Street in Gratton Gardens.
