Thanks for the answer to my last question Time of my life. I am starting off from Canada and am looking to develop an itinerary. I plan to backpack my way around and hope to keep my costs as low as I can. I plan to stay in hostel and do some couchsurfing along the way where possible. I thought about starting in Southeast Asia next month and move North as it heats up to Vietnam, maybe visit Indonesia and then start heading west to Turkey afterwards. I have no set plans I just want to try new things like climbing and such as I go. I just really want to get started, just need to know where to go. Your last answer really helped a lot give me insight that normal web surfing may not provide. Any countries I should check out in Northern Africa or the Middle east that won’t kill a limited budget?

I’m glad my response was helpful! Northern Africa is in turmoil and you ever know when you will run into a protest. You can still go to Egypt, but stay clear of the square in Cario. It’s a bit touch and go. Lebanon is a beautiful, but has a lot of people exiting Syria there, but I think you are safe and the people are so nice!!!!!!!!!!! Food great too!!!!! Morocco is a fun place, but they have had some recent stuff going on. Maybe a magic carpet ride????? heheheh They will try to sell you a carpet, but with the backpack you have an excuse! Middle East is not cheap, but then again you can find great places to explore. Don’t wander into Iran! Turkey is amazing and not that expensive. Istanbul is a great city to explore and make sure you go to the Spice Market and go to the fish market (near the port) for an amazing array of fish. I was there and it was really in your face at the fish market. The food in Turkey is cheap at the small shops all over. Ummmmmmmmm!!!! Go to the Blue Mosque!!!!! If you can go to Ephesus (sp) for an amazing treat that will last you a lifetime. WOW! It can get crowded, but really worth the tourist onslaught!!!!! Turkey is special and such a mix of east and west.
You can definitely stop by in Egypt. It’s a great place and it does not necessarily demands a lot to your pockets. There are numerous Egypt trips that is within an affordable range.. I surely had mine in a budget tour and I was able to experience and see many great spots without hurting my pockets at all. Hope you had a great time with your trip !
