A weekend in Oslo

Avatar Image

Hi

My boyfriend and I are thinking about doing a long-weekend break to Oslo in June – does anyone have any recommendations of the best area to stay in? We’d like to get the most out of our trip so don’t want to be too out of the way, and ideally would be in walking distance of everything and anything – any suggestions??

Thanks!

Hi there, if you want to be in the thick of the cultural action, you’re best off staying in the Karl Johans gate area – be warned that it can get noisy, though (especially in summer). Or if you want to be close to hipster-ish bars, then you could base yourselves in the Grünerløkka district, maybe?

Thanks – we’ve gone for an apartment I found on airbnb in Grunerlokka. Really looking forward to it!

Good choice! By far the most vibrant area in Oslo, and very good bus and tram transportation with the other parts of the city. Takes between 5 and 10 mins to get to the city center. Dont hesitate to ask if you have any more questions! :)
