Is this gadget for the paranoid or safety-savvy?

Perhaps I’m careless, stupid or just too trusting, but this new “Doorjammer” product seems a little over-the-top to me: http://www.door-jammer.com/

Would you use something like this to lock yourself in your hotel/hostel room? Or do you, like me, think it’s a bit of a bizarre concept (never mind a fire hazard)? And would this really put the minds of parents at ease when they won’t even know if their young traveller is using it?!

I’d be interested to hear your thoughts.

That isn’t new Lottie it’s been around a fair while now, and before that there were the door wedges. It’s over the top in my opinion. Reasonable safety precautions are good, paranoia not so much.

I guess it depends on where you’re going, and if you’ve had bad experiences that make you so paranoid it might ruin your trip! Personally I think, like you say, it’s a fire hazard above anything else…
