Climate change is a serious threat to the ecosystems that humans rely upon, and
air travel is the fastest-growing contributor to the problem. Rough Guides regard
travel, overall, as a global benefit, but we all have a responsibility to limit
our personal impact on global warming, and that includes taking the following two
steps:
1) Give thought to how often you fly. Take fewer trips stay for longer!
2) Consider making any flights you do take "climate neutral"...

Make your flight climate neutral |
Rough Guides, together with Lonely Planet and other concerned partners in the travel
industry, are supporting a carbon offset scheme run by
ClimateCare. It works like this:
• First, enter your flight details into our carbon calculator (below), and
hit the green button.
• ClimateCare will work out how much money you need to contribute to offset
the damage caused by the flight. If you like, you can offset other sources of greenhouse
gas while you're there.
• Your money will be spent on sustainable development projects that reduce
greenhouse-gas emissions. It could be efficient lighting in Kazakhstan, green energy
in India or indigenous forest restoration in Uganda.
